हरक्रोध ज्वालावलिभिरवलीढेन वपुषा

गभीरे ते नाभीसरसि कृतसंगो मनसिज:

समुत्तस्थौ तस्मादचलतनये धूमलतिका

जनस्तां जानीते जननि तव रोमावलिरिति

harakrodha jvālāvalibhiravalīḍhena vapuṣā
gabhīre te nābhīsarasi kr̥tasaṁgo manasija:
samuttasthau tasmādacalatanaye dhūmalatikā
janastāṁ jānīte janani tava romāvaliriti

Oh! Mother Parvathi, Cupid, the god of love was subject to Lord Siva’s wrath and he was scorched by the lord's fire of fury. In order to quench his burning body, Manmatha, the god of love jumped into the deep pond of your naval pond immersing himself and a vine of smoke shot up from there. People take that the line of body hair on your stomach starting from your naval is due to this smoke.

ഗഭീരേ തേ നാഭീസരസി കൃതസംഗോ മനസിജ:

സമുത്തസ്ഥൌ തസ്മാദചലതനയേ ധൂമലതികാ

ജനസ്താം ജാനീതേ ജനനി തവ രോമാവലിരിതി

അല്ലയോ ലോകമാതാവേ, പര്‍വ്വതപുത്രീ, പരമശിവന്‍റെ ക്രോധത്തിനിരയായ മന്മഥന്‍, ആ ക്രോധാഗ്നിജ്വാലയാല്‍ ചുട്ടുപൊള്ളുന്ന തന്‍റെ ദേഹം തണുപ്പിക്കാന്‍ അവിടുത്തെ ആഴമേറിയ നാഭീസരസ്സില്‍ മുങ്ങിയപ്പോള്‍ അതില്‍ നിന്നും ഒരു കൊടിപോലെ ഉയര്‍ന്നു പൊന്തിയ പുക അവിടുത്തെ നാഭിക്ക് മുകളിലേയ്ക്ക് ഉദരരോമാവലിയായി പടര്‍ന്നു കയറിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നാണ് ലോകം മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നത്.
