Soundarya Lahari 053

विभक्तत्रैवर्ण्यं व्यतिकरितलीलाञ्जनतया
विभाति त्वन्नेत्रत्रितयमिदमीशानदयिते।
पुनः स्रष्टुं देवान्  द्रुहिणहरिरुद्रानुपरतान्
रजः सत्वं बिभ्रत्तम इति गुणानां त्रयमिव॥

vibhaktatraivarṇyaṁ vyatikaritalīlāñjanatayā
vibhāti tvannetratritayamidamīśānadayite |
punaḥ sraṣṭuṁ devān  druhiṇaharirudrānuparatān
rajaḥ satvaṁ bibhrattama iti guṇānāṁ trayamiva ||

Oh! Goddess! Consort of Lord Paramasiva, your three eyes have vivid hues of white, red and black due to the eye shades you are wearing. When I see them, I imagine that they represent the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra who are in charge of creating, sustaining and destroying the universe respectively. Your eyes seem to carry three basic qualities – rajas, sathva and thamas, as if to get the trinity ready to start the cycle of creation of the universe again which was absorbed in your essence during the last great deluge.

വിഭക്തത്രൈവര്‍ണ്ണ്യം വ്യതികരിതലീലാഞ്ജനതയാ

വിഭാതി ത്വന്നേത്ര ത്രിതയ മിദമീശാനദയിതേ

പുനസ് സ്രഷ്ടും ദേവാന്‍ ദ്രുഹിണ ഹരിരുദ്രാനു പരതാന്‍

രജസ്സത്വം ബിഭ്രത്തമ ഇതി ഗുണാനാം ത്രയമിവ

അല്ലയോ ദേവീ, പരമേശ്വരപ്രിയേ, അവിടുത്തെ മൂന്നു കണ്ണുകളും വിലാസാഞ്ജനം എഴുതി നല്ല തെളിച്ചത്തോടെ വെളുപ്പ്‌, ചുവപ്പ്, കറുപ്പ് (കടും നീല) എന്നീ മൂന്നു വര്‍ണ്ണങ്ങളില്‍ വ്യതിരിക്തമായി കാണപ്പെടുന്നു. ആ കണ്ണുകള്‍ മഹാപ്രളയത്തില്‍ അവിടുത്തെ സത്തയില്‍ ലയിച്ച സൃഷ്ടിസ്ഥിതിസംഹാരകരായ ബ്രഹ്മാവിനെയും വിഷ്ണുവിനെയും രുദ്രനേയും പുന:സൃഷ്ടിയ്ക്കായി സജ്ജരാക്കാന്‍ രജസ്സ്, സത്വം, തമസ്സ്, എന്നീ ഗുണങ്ങളെ ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതുപോലെ പ്രശോഭിക്കുന്നു.
