Soundarya Lahari 070

मृणालीमृद्वीनां तव भुजलतानां चतसृणां
चतुर्भिः सौन्दर्यं सरसिजभवः स्तौति वदनैः।
नखेभ्यः संत्रस्यन् प्रथममथनादन्धकरिपोः
चतुर्णां शीर्षाणां सममभयहस्तार्पणधिया॥

mṛṇālīmṛdvīnāṁ tava bhujalatānāṁ catasṛṇāṁ
caturbhiḥ saundaryaṁ sarasijabhavaḥ stauti vadanaiḥ |
nakhebhyaḥ saṁtrasyan prathamamathanādandhakaripoḥ
caturṇāṁ śīrṣāṇāṁ samamabhayahastārpaṇadhiyā ||

Oh! Devi, Lord Brahma is scared of your husband’s hand nails as one of his five heads was clipped away by Lord Paramasiva, the slayer of the demon Andhaka. Lord Brahma, petrified of the Lord’s nail, extolls the beauty of your four arms which are as soft and supple as the stems of lotus flowers, using all of his four faces singing in unison. He is praying to you to bless him by placing each of your hands on his four heads simultaneously so that he would be free of fear for ever.

ചതുര്‍ഭി: സൌന്ദര്യം സരസിജഭവ: സ്തൌതി വദനൈ:

നഖേഭ്യ: സന്ത്രസ്യന്‍ പ്രഥമമഥനാദന്ധക രിപോ:

ചതുര്‍ണാം ശീര്‍ഷാണാം സമമഭയ ഹസ്താര്‍പ്പണധിയാ  

അല്ലയോ ദേവീ, ബ്രഹ്മദേവന്‍റെ അഞ്ചു ശിരസ്സുകളില്‍ ഒന്ന്‍ അന്ധകാന്തകനായ ഭഗവാന്‍ പരമശിവന്‍ പണ്ട് നുള്ളിയെടുത്തത്തിനാല്‍ വിരിഞ്ചന് പരമശിവന്‍റെ നഖത്തെ എന്നും ഭയമാണ്. അങ്ങിനെ ഭീതിയോടെയിരിക്കുന്ന ബ്രഹ്മാവ്‌ തന്‍റെ ബാക്കിയുള്ള നാല് ശിരസ്സുകളിലും അമ്മ ഒരേസമയം കൈവച്ച് അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച് അഭയം നല്‍കണം എന്ന പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥനയുമായി  അവിടുത്തെ താമരവളയങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ അതിമൃദുലങ്ങളായ നാല് തൃക്കൈകളുടെ സൌന്ദര്യത്തെ തന്‍റെ നാല് മുഖങ്ങളാലും ഏകസ്വരത്തില്‍ സ്തുതിച്ചു വാഴ്ത്തുന്നു.
